An ultra- modern mobile ambulatory unit for cardiac patients has been launched by RCCC. Chief Cardiologist of RCCC has worked as Director, Professor and Head of Cardiology at LPS Institute of Cardiology, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur till 1996.Since then he has joined the hospital and is leading the cardiac team. He is a fellow of Royal College of Physicians, London and Fellow of American College of Cardiology, USA. In appreciation of his original research in Cardiology, he was awarded PhD. from Birmingham University, UK. He has contributed more than 30 years to the development of Cardiology in the State. His vast experienced in clinical cardiology and research has given a strong foundation to the Department of Cardiology at RCCC.

Dr.A.K.TRIVEDI

Senior Cardiologist is a Graduate and Post-Graduate from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. He has had extensive training in modern Cardiology at the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore, as Asstt. Professor of Cardiology. He has performed a large number of non-invasive and invasive procedures like angiographies, interventions and Pacemaker implantation and has a large experience of treating different types of heart diseases and hypertension.

Dr. HARSH AGARWAL

Interventional Cardiologist , is a rare combination of youth and experience .A Graduate and Post-Graduate of KGMC, Lucknow, he was working as Associate Professor and Chief of Interventional Cardiology at Wanless Hospital and Medical College Miraj(Maharastra) before joining this hospital . He has performed more than 3000 invasive procedures which include Coronary Angiography, Angioplasty ,Coronary Stenting ,Valvuloplasty , Electrophysiology, Pacemaker implantation etc. His contribution in this field has changed the scenario of Cardiology in our state.

Dr. SAEED AKHTAR

Chief Cardiac Surgeon , has been trained at KGMC, Lucknow. He has a vast experience of five years of association with Escorts Heart Institute and subsequently at Malhotra Heart Institute, New Delhi He has also got specialised training in cardiac surgery at Upssala University Hospital Sweden as a fellow cardiac surgeon .Dr. Saeed has performed more than 3000 cardiac surgeries in his professional career spanning over a decade. For the last two years RCCC has the privilege of performing large number of Open Heart by Dr. Saeed Akhtar and his team, some of which have been quite complex .For the first time in the state of Uttar Pradesh "BEATING HEART SURGERY" was performed by Dr. Saeed Akhtar and subsequently other advanced cases have been operated by him.

DR.MUKUL KSHATRIYA

is a senior Cardiac Anaesthesiologist at RCCC. He has had extensive training in Batra Hospital and Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi. He has a vast experience in latest anaesthesia techniques including LV assisted devices. He is a pillar of Cardiac Anaesthesia at RCCC.

PACEMAKER BANK

Recently Regency Hospital has been approved as the 4th in the country and 29th in the world as a "Pacemaker Bank" by Heart Beat International, USA. It provides free pacemakers to the most needy and poor patients More than two dozen dual chamber pacemakers have been implanted through this bank till date.
The data of PTCA and other balloon interventions are included in the National Registry of Cardiological Society of India.

CARDIOTHORACIC & VASCULAR SURGERY (CTVS)

The department of CTVS has a team of a Chief Cardiac Surgeon , cardiac anaesthetist and experienced nurses and technical staff .Two Operation Theatres with the most sophisticated equipment of international standards are located on the 6th Floor of the hospital building which also houses the ICCU and the Cath Lab.
At RCCC cardiac surgery of almost all kinds, from simple to complex are being performed as below :
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting(CABG)
Single and double valve replacement and repairs.
Closure of ASD,VSD,&PDA.
Correction of tetrology and other congenital cardiac defects.
Vascular surgery.
Closed Heart surgeries like pericardectomy and lung surgery.

For maximum patient care and safety the CTVS unit is equipped with a special system ensuring uninterrupted power supply in OT, post-operative rooms and in other critical areas. To provide Zero Bacteria Atmosphere, micro filtered and laminar air-flow system has been installed in OT's which ensures maximum sterility and prevention of infection .
Post-Operative care is very important in cardiac surgery. A 4- bedded post operative cardiac ICU is located right next to the Operation Theatre .This Intensive Care Unit has 24-hours , 12-channel computerised monitoring and several other equipment's to determine the state of the circulatory system as well as the haemo-dynamic parameters . Blood gases and electrolytes can quickly be tested at the biochemistry lab in the ICU itself .Other cardiac equipment like intra-aortic balloon pumps , infusion pumps and ventilators are also available. Several milestones have been achieved by this department within a short span of time . Recent advancement in cardiac surgery like Beating Heart Surgery, total arterial vascularisation, surgery without blood transfusion are some of the routine procedures that are being done at RCCC.

Achievements

First Hospital in private sector in UP to start open heart surgery in 1995.
On 22nd August 2000 performed first beating heart bypass surgery. So far 400 such operations have been done successfully.
First bloodless bypass surgery in a patient of Jehovah witness performed in UP.
More than 1200 cardiac surgeries including bypass, valve replacement and correction of congenital heart defects performed so far.
Vascular surgeries including limb salvage surgeries for trauma patients done regularly.
Throacic surgeries done include chest injuries, empyema surgery and lung resection.
Plan to offer robotic bypass surgery and surgery for heart failure in near future.
